Research
Research at the INNOVAE Center for Entrepreneurial Business Architecture (CEBA) begins with a fundamental question: how are entrepreneurs developed, opportunities discovered, enterprises created, markets built, and businesses transformed into organizations capable of sustainable growth and economic and social value creation? Answering this question requires studying entrepreneurship as a complete developmental phenomenon rather than reducing it to startup creation. CEBA investigates the entrepreneur, the enterprise, the market, and the surrounding environment as interconnected elements of the entrepreneurial process.
CEBA research explores the origins, history, evolution, theory, practice, and future of entrepreneurship and enterprise development. Its investigations encompass entrepreneurial mindset and behavior, life and capability development, opportunity discovery, startup architecture, business models, online and physical business presence, market development, innovation, growth and scale, entrepreneurial leadership, technology, institutions, financing, ecosystems, and economic transformation. The Center also studies entrepreneurs, enterprises, industries, cities, regions, and countries to understand how different environments enable or constrain entrepreneurial activity and how entrepreneurship evolves under changing economic, technological, institutional, and social conditions.
A central area of investigation is the entrepreneurial individual. CEBA examines the knowledge, capabilities, behaviors, experiences, decision-making processes, and developmental conditions that enable individuals to recognize opportunities and convert them into economic activity. Entrepreneurship is therefore studied not only as something entrepreneurs do, but also as a process of who entrepreneurs become. This research provides an essential connection between personal development, entrepreneurial capability, opportunity discovery, enterprise creation, and the emergence of the Entrepreneurial Business Architect.
The ultimate purpose of CEBA research is to provide the intellectual and empirical foundation for the continuing development of Entrepreneurial Business Architecture (EBA). Research identifies and examines principles, patterns, relationships, capabilities, processes, successes, failures, and contradictions across entrepreneurial experience; architecture then organizes that knowledge into an increasingly coherent and applicable system for developing entrepreneurs and building enterprises. The research presented below documents this continuing investigation, creating a growing body of knowledge from which EBA can evolve while contributing to a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship as a force for individual, economic, and social transformation.
